iCloud Sync

Keep your profiles, custom layouts and launch delay in sync across your Macs.

This feature is part of FluidZones Premium.

With iCloud Sync, the Macs signed in to the same Apple account share the same profiles through iCloud Drive.

Turn it on#

  1. Press Settings in the bottom bar. It opens on General.
  2. Under Sync, turn on iCloud Sync. It is disabled if you are not signed in to iCloud.
  3. FluidZones combines this Mac with what is already in iCloud, then keeps both in sync.

When combining, iCloud wins for profiles that exist on both sides. Profiles that only exist on this Mac are added, with "(this Mac)" added to the name if it is already taken. A message tells you what was combined and offers Keep this Mac's version.

What syncs#

  • Synced: profiles (name, notes, apps, layouts, shortcut, schedule and restore preference), custom layouts and the launch delay.
  • Stays on each Mac: saved window positions, the "launched today" status, the selected profile, the color palette, the license and the launch history.

When changes arrive from another Mac#

A message tells you what changed. While the app is open it includes Revert to undo the incoming changes. Changes picked up at launch are informational only.

If iCloud has no data yet#

FluidZones never uploads your profiles on its own.

  • If it finds nothing in iCloud, an alert titled No iCloud data found lets you choose Upload This Mac's Profiles or Wait. Wait if you use FluidZones on another Mac and iCloud Drive is still syncing.
  • If the iCloud file is damaged or incomplete, an alert titled iCloud data can't be read lets you choose Replace with This Mac's Profiles or Keep Paused.
  • If the file cannot be read at all, for example when you are offline, FluidZones waits quietly and tries again when iCloud Drive changes or the network returns.

Tips and limits#

  • If your trial ends or you lose Premium, sync pauses on this Mac and the toggle reads Requires Premium — sync is paused on this Mac. Your local profiles are untouched, and sync resumes by itself when Premium is back.
  • After the first combine, the most recent change wins.
  • Each Mac runs its own schedules.
  • Needs Premium. See Free vs Premium.
