Privacy Policy

This page explains exactly what data FluidZones collects, why, and how. No vague language — only what actually happens.

What the app stores locally

Your profiles, preferences, and window data are stored on your Mac at ~/Library/Application Support/fluidzones/data.json. If you enable iCloud Sync, a copy is also written to your own iCloud Drive (~/Library/Mobile Documents) — synced by Apple, never through our servers. Beyond that, this data never leaves your device as part of normal app use.

When the app contacts our servers

FluidZones contacts our license server to validate your license or trial status at launch. This sends your license key (or trial code) and an anonymous machine identifier — a one-way hash — to confirm your access. No workspace content, app names, or usage data is ever transmitted.

License activation

Activating a Premium license sends your license key and anonymous machine ID to our server. We store this to enforce the 2-machine limit. Your IP address is temporarily stored in our database for rate limiting (abuse prevention) and is not linked to your identity or used for any other purpose.

Anonymous install ping

At most once a day, the app sends a small anonymous ping to our server so we can measure how many machines actually installed FluidZones and are still using it — nothing more. It contains only the app version, macOS version, CPU architecture, and a truncated one-way hash of your machine ID. No workspace content, app names, or usage data is included. This is on by default and can be turned off with one toggle in Preferences → General.

Free trial

Starting a trial requires your email address. We store it to send your trial code, trial reminders, and occasional product updates — via Resend, our email provider. An anonymous machine identifier is also stored to validate your trial on your device. Every email includes an unsubscribe link — one click stops all future emails.

Anonymous server-side analytics

Our server records anonymous funnel events — trial signups, license activations, purchases. These records contain only a short truncated hash of your machine ID. No name, no email, no IP address is stored in these records.

Third-party data processors

We use Supabase (database), Resend (email delivery), LemonSqueezy (payment processing), and Vercel (hosting). Each processes data only as needed to deliver their service. LemonSqueezy handles all payment data — we never see your card details.

What we do not collect

No workspace content, app names, or usage data — see "Anonymous install ping" above for the one thing we do send by default. No crash reports sent to us. No cookies or tracking pixels on this website. No third-party analytics SDKs embedded in the app.

Data retention

License and machine data is kept while your license is active. Trial email and machine data is kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion. IP addresses stored for rate limiting are overwritten on each request and are not linked to your identity. You may request deletion of any data we hold by emailing us.
