Export and import

Back up your profiles to a file or move them to another Mac.

Exporting saves your profiles to a .json file. Importing adds the profiles from such a file to the ones you already have.

Export#

  1. At the bottom of the Profiles sidebar, press Export.
  2. Choose where to save the file and confirm.

The file contains your profiles with their apps, layouts and settings, plus the custom layouts they use.

Import#

  1. Press Import at the bottom of the sidebar.
  2. Choose the .json file and confirm.
  3. The imported profiles appear in the sidebar. If the file has problems, an Import Error alert explains what is wrong.

Tips and limits#

  • Each imported profile gets a new identity and "(Imported)" added to its name.
  • Apps outside /Applications, /System/Applications and ~/Applications are dropped on import.
  • Imported profiles count toward the 3-profile limit on the free plan.
  • To send a single profile to someone, use Share a profile.
