Launch a profile

Open all the apps of a profile and place their windows, from the app or from anywhere.

On this page

Launching opens every app in the sequence, in order, and moves each window into its layout.

Launch from the app#

Select the profile and press Launch Scene at the bottom of Launch Sequence.

  • FluidZones minimizes its own window so it does not get in the way, and opens the apps without taking focus.
  • A small progress window shows each app as it opens, and the countdown to the next one when you use a delay.
  • Apps that are already open are repositioned instead of opened again.
  • Only one launch runs at a time.
  • When it finishes you get Scene launched!, or a list of what failed. If the window is hidden, it arrives as a notification.

To bring the window back, click the FluidZones icon in the Dock or choose Open FluidZones from the menu bar.

Launch without opening the window#

Tips and limits#

  • Launching a profile again the same day shows Already launched today — launching again. and goes ahead.
  • Without Accessibility, an alert says FluidZones can't position windows. Choose Open System Settings to fix it, or Launch Anyway to open the apps without placing them.
  • If an app cannot be as small as its zone, you get a message saying it has a minimum window size larger than its zone. Try a wider or taller zone or preset.
  • If you saved window positions, you are asked whether to restore them: Restore on launch.
  • If notifications are blocked in macOS, you still see the result in the app window.
